Summary
The menu is more spread out than a 7/10 split: burgers, sushi, pizza, seafood, barbecue, Mexican, and Italian are represented, plus nachos and other bar food. It would be a stretch for any kitchen to make half of these things well, let alone a kitchen in a bowling alley, but this California venue makes a better effort at it than its Floridian cousin. Ingredients taste fresh and are of consistent quality, but the flavor profiles are unbalanced, often overwhelming savory dishes with sweet sauces. Stick with the potent cocktails and appetizers.
Setting and Atmosphere
Splitsville is part of a multistate chain of hybrid bowling alleys–restaurants. The two-story Anaheim branch looks like a mid-century movie star’s mansion, with rich hardwood surfaces, space-age lighting fixtures, and faux-vintage billboards referencing the region’s history. It isn’t nearly as loud as the Orlando location, and the 20 bowling lanes are split up and secluded among the various dining rooms, making eating here feel like less of an afterthought.
House Specialties
The sushi—salmon, shrimp, tuna, crab, and various combinations thereof—is the best thing on the menu.
Other Recommendations
Steak sliders, short ribs, and chicken wings. Giant cake slices for dessert.
