When Tokyo Disneyland was being designed, Disney Imagineers and Oriental Land Company officials wanted Frontierland to be a part of their new park. But what do you do when the word "frontier" doesn't translate into the Japanese language? You call it something else. They settled on Westernland.
Westernland adjoins Adventureland as you move clockwise around Tokyo Disneyland. Westernland is, appropriately enough, themed to mimic the architecture of the American West. Westernland includes one of the parks's headliner rides (Big Thunder Mountain), one of the best spots to relax and unwind (Tom Sawyer Island), arguably the park's best counter service restaurant (Hungry Bear Restaurant) and one of our personal favorites, Country Bear Theater, home of Country Bear Jamboree.
