Description And Comments

Jimmy Fallon, the popular host of NBC's Tonight Show, has lent his name, image, and personality to this 3-D motion simulator attraction. If that all sounds good to you than you will likely love Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Beginning with a simple trip to the Tonight Show, guests are led on a go-kart-style ride through New York City. Guest will see the Statue of Liberty as well as the lovely sights of the subway and the East River. (Oh, and prepare to get sprayed by hopefully-not-real-East-River-water.) We don't want to ruin the ending, but we will say that it involves a trip to the moon.

The exterior facade of the attraction is a miniaturized, yet still large, version of New York's 30 Rockefeller Center (30 Rock to most). Obviously it fits in very well in the New York section of the park and we commend the sly addition of the NBC Studio Store gift shop--just like at the real 30 Rock!

Race Through New York is the first attraction at Universal Studios to utilize a "virtual queue" where guests choose a time to return to ride rather than wait in an actual line. If you're familiar with Disney World's FastPass+ system, it's a similar concept. The notable differences are that there's no actual standby line (except at the beginning and end of the day), plus there are not pre-arrival bookings: you must acquire a "Return Time Ticket" on the day you want to ride, and only if you're in the park. Use the Universal Orlando app or kiosks near the attraction to secure a Return Time Ticket.

Although it lacks a formal queue, that does not mean there is no waiting at Race Through New York. Quite to contrary, once you enter the building at your appointed time, you will have 15-20 minutes before being called to a ride vehicle. Fortunately, the waiting area is nicely done and includes Tonight Show memorabilia, couches next to phone charging ports, and live entertainment. But that means there is always a wait before riding, so plan accordingly.

Touring Tips

  • This attraction may ONLY be experienced via Return Time Ticket or Universal Express! There is no standby queue (with the possible exceptions of the beginning and end of the day).
