Summary

Though the restaurant is rarely busy, the relaxed atmosphere of the dining room tends to melt into the service here, yielding a sometimes longer-than-expected meal in a simple space. Keep Captain’s Grille in mind if you’re in search of a generally satisfying plate of food away from the Florida heat and hustle and bustle of the theme parks.

Setting and Atmosphere

Set just off the main lobby of the resort, Captain’s Grille serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual lightly-nautical-themed atmosphere. The restaurant is rarely busy at lunch, often not requiring a reservation for a table, though it can be a bustling, loud spot for breakfast and dinner for resort guests around Crescent Lake and those visiting Epcot just steps away.

House Specialties

A well-appointed buffet packed with breakfast specialties like individual frittatas, bread pudding, and fresh biscuits & gravy supplements an a la carte menu featuring a lump crab omelet and dark chocolate waffles with espresso cream in the morning. The lunch menu leans heavy, but excellent options include the Yacht Club Burger, with meat blended in-house and cooked to order, lump crab cakes, and buttermilk rock shrimp tacos. Dinner’s highlights lay in the Farmer’s Market beet salad, New England clam chowder, beer braised mussels, and Cabernet braised short ribs.

Other Recommendations

Captain’s Grille excels when they stick to the simple dishes, like the shaved beef sandwich at lunch or the rosemary-brined pork tenderloin at dinner. Fluffy and tangy lemon ricotta hotcakes are a mainstay on the breakfast menu, and just tempting enough to steer guests away from the excellent breakfast buffet. House-made gelato and hazelnut chocolate cake are standouts on the otherwise lackluster dessert menu.
